About MacVicar Educational Foundation

Our Organization

The MacVicar Educational Foundation is a 501c3 organization incorporated in 1983 by visionary Alpha Delta alumni to operate exclusively for charitable and educational purposes in the form of scholarships for members of the Alpha Delta Fraternity at Washburn University.

FAQ about MEF

  • Since 1984, MEF has awarded close to $100,000 in scholarships to Alpha Delta members. During the past ten academic years, MEF has awarded $41,525 in scholarships to 51 members of Alpha Delta fraternity.

  • Scholarships are announced annually at Founders Day and awarded in August for the academic year.

  • Scholarship recipients are selected based on academic status, grade point average, and chapter involvement.

  • Scholarships offset housing and membership expenses associated with attending Washburn University or Washburn University Technical Institute and being a member of Alpha Delta Fraternity.

  • Donations to MEF are tax deductible.

  • You do not need to be an Alpha Delta alumni or be a member of the foundation to donate.

  • MEF is managed by a Board of Directors all of whom are alumni of Alpha Delta. Based on IRS rules governing 501c3 status, MEF is a separate and distinct organization from the fraternity alumni association and housing corporation, but does function collaboratively for the betterment of the fraternity. All AD alumni are members of the MacVicar Educational Foundation
