Retirement and Estate Planning
Remember MEF with your 401K required minimum distribution (RMD) or other non-cash asset through a fully tax-deductible gift.
If you have an required minimum distribution (RMD) on your retirement account, donating to MacVicar Educational Foundation (MEF) may be a great option. RMD withdrawals are taxable income and cannot be rolled into other tax-deferred accounts. However, donating your RMD to organizations such as MacVicar Educational Foundation is considered a qualified charitable distribution (QCD) and will not be taxed up to $100,000. Beyond the tax benefits, donating this income to MEF is a generous way to support the fraternity into future generations.
To make a qualified charitable distribution (QCD) of your required minimum distribution (RMD), make non-cash gift, or remember MEF in your estate plan:

• Work with your financial planner to arrange your donation to MacVicar Educational Foundation, 1220 Oakley, Topeka, KS. 66604, Incorporated 1983. EIN: 48.0964495. Electronic transfers can be arranged.

• Give your gift. Up to $100,000 of your distribution from an employer-sponsored retirement account (including but not limited to your RMD) is a QCD. Make your donation by December 31 to qualify this year. Please notify MEF via email at MEFforAD@gmail.com so your gift can be tracked and to ensure proper recognition and accounting.

• Designate your QCD to this year’s Pearls of Support Campaign or donors may indicate their desire to contribute to MEF’s long-term investment assets for financial growth with interest earned being awarded in future scholarships.

• Consider supporting MEF through non-cash gifts of stocks, as a life insurance beneficiary, or through estate contributions upon passing. Work with your estate attorney and financial planner to make these arrangements and notify MEF via email at MEFforAD@gmail.com of your generosity.
